Negro Ensemble Company

Celebrating it’s 40th Anniversity, the Negro Ensemble Company seems to be starting fresh in a new (perhaps permanent) home at the Harlem School of the Arts. Despite its name, Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) is known for staging most of their productions below 125th Street. The company’s primary claims to fame include A Raisin in the Sun and A Soldier’s Play. The Company’s list of alumni reads like a Who’s Who of Hollywood including everyone from Richard Roundtree to Laurence Fishburne to Denzel Washington to Samuel Jackson, and the list goes on and on.

Lead under the artistic direction of Charles Weldon with newly named Associate A.D., Oz Scott, the company seems to be back on the road to recovery.
