THE FUTURE OF NEW YORK SOCIETY GATHERS TO TURN THE RED CARPET GREEN Celebrating the Official Launch of Envirolution, a Network to Create the Next Generation of Sustainability Leaders
New York, NY - On Friday May 9th, New York hot spot, Marquee, is set to throw the sustainability party of the year, with the launch and unveiling of Envirolution, a 501©(3) non-profit. Sponsored by American Express, this burgeoning organization is set to connect and mobilize the next generation of environmental leaders by bringing together the finest of New York Cities' up and coming twenty and thirty year olds and unveiling its interactive website and innovative high-school club model as well as its ground-breaking local green economy campaigns (The UM Urban Go Green Tour and The Win-Win Campaign).
A night of celebration, Envirolution @ Marquee will be "green society - meets - red carpet" with an opportunity to showcase the passions we all share to create an environmentally sustainable society, while promoting the benefits we stand to gain in this common future without giving up the quality of lifestyle. With top fashion and events photographers, Patrick McMullan Company and Guestofaguest.com, snapping shots of the night's festivities and esteemed guests, young leaders from all of New York's diverse industries, from entertainment, fashion, finance and law, to music, art, real estate and non-profits, will enjoy cocktails provided by Bombay Sapphire, wine by Gallo Family Vineyards, entertainment from the Urban Mentor team, and organic food from David Ziff cooking.
Aysha Said and her vision for the modern woman, Signette, will be filming for her upcoming documentary. In addition, Suzanne Africa Engo, will be covering the event for her Cause Celebrity News Blog Show on Think.MTV.com. Lastly, Izzy Gold, a NYC-based young fashion designer, has collaborated with Envirolution on a special edition organic t-shirt that will be offered to guests in their "My Bag Cares" gift bags. A silent auction, consisting of works from local artists, events tickets, and restaurant certificates, will be available for bidding.
Bode Miller, World Class American alpine skier, four-time World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist, stated, "Every year races are cancelled and the season is changed due to absence of snow. The effects of global warming have already begun. The issue is current and it will take a serious commitment to reverse these fatal trends. Organizations like Envirolution are what the future leaders of this country need to point them in the right direction."
Envirolution is committed to "walking the walk" and making this launch event green. They are utilizing the carpooling taxi service, Rideamigos.com, offsetting the carbon footprint with carbon-offset certificates from Sterling Planet, and what minimal printing they are doing will be on recycled paper or poster-board. Finally, they will plan to recycle and reuse any waste that we produce at the event, including the decorations, which will be living flowers that guests can take home and plant.
As a national network of individuals, organizations and businesses, Envirolution is dedicated to advancing sustainability in order to meet society's current needs without compromising the needs of future generations. Defining sustainability as dependent on the prosperity and interconnectedness of the "Three Spheres" (Economy, Environment and Society) - with a core belief that everyone, no matter their talents or skills, can contribute to the emerging green economy - the night's mission is to unite guests on a common ground, and together and find the solutions necessary to continue the health of our society, planet, and economy.
Envirolution's mission is to build collaborative platforms that advance sustainability, grow the green economy, and empower the next generation of leaders. It accomplishes the mission by offering tools and avenues of participation via our collaborative platforms of school clubs, community campaigns, events, website and local projects. This organization is engaging youth to step up as the next leaders of this country in order to ensure our future opportunities and those of our children. It is up to us to empower them. Lead It. Live It.
